Chantecaille
The Extraordinary Alliance of Nature and Science

CHANTECAILLE is the preeminent luxury brand for serious skincare and beautifying cosmetics known for its uniquely high concentration of natural botanicals. The line stands out for the extensive research and technological innovation invested in each ground-breaking formula. It is also distinguished by the exceptional purity of its ingredients, which are endowed with a potent life force capable of nourishing and revitalizing the skin, the body and the spirit.

CHANTECAILLE focuses its attention on inflammation, which is scientifically recognized as the main cause of aging. The healing properties of its plant-based formulas reduce the aging effects of inflammation on the different layers of the skin, often penetrating below the surface with innovative nano-technology.

CHANTECAILLE employs advanced technologies alongside centuries-old traditions in skincare. Biotechnology, Chinese medicine, aromatherapy and European flower pharmacology all contribute to the company's proprietary blend of natural elements and scientific rigor. It offers extraordinary results to modern women who demand high-performance, health-enhancing products that are both efficient and effective.

CHANTECAILLE makeup is renowned for its natural look, particularly the translucent foundations that have revolutionized the way women use coverage. The color collection, also imbued with skin-friendly natural ingredients and botanical antioxidants, always complements current fashion, interpreting each season's important hues, textures and finishes.

CHANTECAILLE is also the name of the New York-based family behind this brand. Sylvie, the French matriarch, founded the company with a small line of fragrances after more than two decades as a senior-level executive in the beauty industry. Together with daughter Olivia, the brand's creative director, she developed the cosmetics line. Husband Olivier and daughter Alex are now also vital parts of the company. Together they bring a dedication to enhancing wellness and a consuming passion for quality, purity and form.

CHANTECAILLE has always sought to raise awareness for important environmental concerns. It's an integral part of the brand and a way to give back to the bountiful nature that serves as its muse. Chantecaille's intimate relationship with women has been instrumental in establishing a platform for sharing these ideas and for providing opportunities for greater involvement in global issues. In 2005, special Butterfly eye shadows - the colorful Les Papillons collection - were created to help fund the protection of the Monarch butterfly's winter habitats, and this series continued through 2006. For 2007, a major campaign was launched to bring awareness to the destruction of coral reefs worldwide with the creation of a luxury coral compact. Subsequent "Cause-metics" Collections have been launched as Chantecaille's continued passion and commitment to the oceans and to endangered species grows stronger and stronger. This sense of balance and reciprocity also helps define the Chantecaille aesthetic, which expresses a deep respect for the extraordinary beauty and richness of nature.

All CHANTECAILLE products are not tested on animals. There are no animal derivatives, lanolin or mineral derivatives in the products. All skincare products are free of synthetic colors and fragrances, and do not contain any sulfate detergents, phthalates, nor petrochemicals.

Sylvie Chantecaille
A Visionary Woman in a World of Beauty

Chantecaille is truly a family business and at the helm of this exclusive cosmetics brand is French matriarch Sylvie Chantecaille, its creator, heart and soul. She brings to the business more than 25 years' experience as one the of the industry's foremost innovators. Known for her unique ability to integrate science and technology with botanicals and luxury skincare, Sylvie is dedicated to making modern women's lives easier and more beautiful.

Born into a family of art collectors, Sylvie was weaned on art and her natural proclivities for form, color and detail were honed by her studies in art history. She moved to New York in the '70s and started a small company of chic cosmetics with Diane von Furstenberg. Their successful Madison Avenue business caught the attention of the Estée Lauder company which soon came calling. In 1979, Sylvie launched Prescriptives at Estée Lauder, and it went on to become a best-selling cosmetics line, injecting a new level of scientific emphasis in a wealth of ground-breaking formulas.

Fueled by the desire to create a new company that reflected her own spiritual and holistic focus - including an interest in aromatherapy - Sylvie began a new venture in 1997. She was equipped with a well-researched understanding of the needs and wants of modern women, and invaluable contacts within the sourcing and manufacturing communities. Sylvie launched Chantecaille as a small fragrance house with four highly original scents based on natural essential oils that presaged the next wave in cosmetics and laid the foundation for the company's unique approach to beauty.

Supported by the business acumen of husband Olivier and the creative and strategic talents of daughters Olivia (Creative Director) and Alexandra (Director of Sales Promotion), Sylvie has transformed Chantecaille into a revolutionary skincare and cosmetics brand renowned internationally for its technologically advanced approach to naturally beautiful skin. Interviewed and quoted extensively as an industry expert and product guru, she is recognized as a visionary who gives modern women, celebrities and models alike the healthy and translucent complexions they covet.

Sylvie's longstanding commitment to promoting wellness, her deep connection to nature and her abiding passion for artistic expression are shared by her husband and have been passed on to all three of her children (her son works in the art world). With them by her side, she has created a business of beauty that reflects her values and enhances the lives of women around the globe.

Olivia Chantecaille
The Spirit of Creativity

As Creative Director of Chantecaille, her family's eponymous cosmetics and skincare line, Olivia Chantecaille imbues the brand with its distinctive stamp of modernity. Working closely with her mother since the company's inception, Olivia contributes her innate sense of what young women want, her keen understanding of culture and fashion, and her own unique vision.

Raised amid lab samples and color charts, and accompanying her mother on research and development trips for her job as head of Prescriptives, Olivia was exposed to the world of beauty at a tender age. Her resulting affinity for aesthetics and her French heritage led her quite naturally to Europe where she studied art and worked as a model. The former gave her a more rigorous education in form and color, while the latter introduced her to the world of fashion and the techniques of top makeup artists.

This combined knowledge inspires her current role as Creative Director, as she creates trendsetting color palettes, innovative products, oversees packaging design and creates seasonal presentations to retail partners such as Barneys New York, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. Further, she represents the brand by making personal appearances at the top retailers. Olivia's responsibilities also include global public relations and advertising for the company. She works closely with editors at high-end publications and orchestrates key launch events.

Olivia is instrumental in the development of the Chantecaille brand, especially in making sure it stays ahead of industry trends and in line with current fashion. She is a dynamic contributor to several New York City charities that support the arts and cultural history, and an active participant in city life. This enables her to keep in touch with what matters to young women of her generation and to translate that into the language of beauty. Olivia has served as Chairperson for both Save Venice and Young Patrons of the Louvre; an active contributor to the Guggenheim, Whitney Museum and New Yorkers for Children foundations; and an integral part of Chantecaille's initiatives to support the Pew Institute's marine conservation programs.

Alex Chantecaille
The Spirit of Conservation

As the Director of Sales for Chantecaille, Alex Chantecaille heads the international team of sales managers, traveling the world to train staff and implement the company's strategic marketing initiatives at the store level. She also manages the Chantecaille Energy Spa at Barneys New York, overseeing a diverse menu of treatments that embody the Chantecaille approach to skincare and holistic healing.

With a degree in art history from Barnard College, a French family, and stints living in other countries including Mexico and Italy, Alex has a first-hand knowledge of foreign cultures and languages (she is learning her fifth).

Her deep connection to nature led first to a love of surfing, hiking and other outdoor sports, and then to her passion for environmental causes such as ocean conservation and fish sustainability. Travel to Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic further enhanced her knowledge of conservation efforts and needs on a local level. As a result, Alex is actively involved in Chantecaille's corporate contributions to such organizations as the Pew Institute for Ocean Science and IUCN.
