Known for her flawless complexions and flattering, defined eyes, New York City-based makeup artist Lisa Aharon has a rolodex of celebrity clients who flock to her for that signature ‘no makeup’ look when they hit the red carpet.
As a devoted Chantecaille fan, she was one of the first to try the latest evolution of Future Skin, a complexion go-to in her kit for its fresh, natural finish. We were delighted (and relieved!) that it passed muster with the makeup master—and that she’ll be stocking her kit with the new formula. We chatted with Aharon about her foundation favorite—and pumped her to share some of her hard-earned tips and tricks with us.

When you say "Future Skin", what are the first 3 words that come to mind?
Fresh, natural, glowing.
When do you reach for it?
Honestly, I reach for Future Skin all the time—it’s a staple in my kit. Whether I’m working with a client for a red carpet or just doing my own makeup for the day, it gives that beautiful skin-like finish that always looks effortless.

We’ve elevated the formula to bring even more skincare to the skin—how do you feel about hybrid formulas?
I’m all for them! Especially as a makeup artist, I love products that do double duty. The fact that Future Skin feels like a treatment and a tint in one makes my job easier, and my clients’ skin happier. It’s a win-win.
Can you share any favorite foundation tricks or hacks?
Yes! I love to mix Future Skin with a little Rose de Mai Cream or glow-enhancing primer like the Sheer Glow Rose (or Bronze) Face Tint to sheer it out for lighter days. And I often apply it just where needed—cheeks, around the nose, maybe a little on the chin—instead of all over. It gives such a natural result.

If someone is just trying this formula for the first time, what do you think they should know?
Less is more. Start with a little and build up if you need more coverage. It melts into the skin beautifully and doesn’t sit on top like some traditional foundations. Also, give it a minute after applying—it settles in so nicely.
Wedding season is incoming: should brides consider this a beauty essential for the big day?
Absolutely. Future Skin is a dream for brides—I used it for Kate Bock’s wedding and it wore so well throughout the day into the wee hours of the night! It photographs beautifully, feels weightless, and has that dewy, romantic finish that so many of my brides ask for.

No-makeup makeup is a signature of yours—what’s your process for nailing that look?
For me, it always starts with great skin prep—hydration is key. Then I apply Future Skin only where it’s needed, blending it in with a brush, sponge, or fingers depending on the finish I’m after. I’ll tap on a cream blush, brush up and lightly fill in the brows, add a touch of highlighter, and finish with a lip balm. If I’m in the mood to shape the lips a little, I’ll reach for a neutral-toned Lip Definer—something like Tone, Natural, or Discreet. It’s really all about enhancing, not covering.

How do you apply Future Skin—fingers, sponge, or brush?
All three—just depends on the look I’m going for! Fingers are perfect for quick, sheer coverage, a damp sponge gives that soft, diffused finish, and a brush adds a bit more polish. Future Skin is so versatile, it really works with whatever tool you have. The Chantecaille Cheek Brush is actually one of my go-tos for blending it in—it gives such a beautiful, seamless finish.
Do YOU wear foundation? How do you apply it?
Yes, I do—mostly when I want to feel a little more pulled together. I like to apply Future Skin with my fingers for everyday or with a brush if I want more of a finished look. I usually focus on the center of my face and blend outward to keep it really natural.
Lastly—we know more skincare = less makeup. How do you prep skin for foundation to ensure the best possible application?
Always, always start with good skin prep. I cleanse, follow with a hydrating serum, then moisturizer - something that nourishes without being too greasy. I let everything sink in before applying Future Skin, and the result is always smooth, radiant, and fresh.
