Need A New Routine to Get The Skin You Want? We Have the Products (and a Brilliant Quiz) For That.
Ever look in the mirror and notice that your skin looks a bit dry, dull, or tired? We’ve all been there. A daily routine that zeroes in on your concerns—and works to solve them—is the fastest path to loving the skin you’re in. Here at Chantecaille, we make products that yield fantastic visible results thanks to the high concentrations of potent ingredients and brilliant botanicals we’re known for. But guess what? They work best only when used regularly.
That’s right: For results that you can see, you have to use skincare products frequently so that your skin can drink in all their benefits. Our intuitive skincare quiz can help you uncover all the concerns you want to address and match you with the perfect products to help reveal your best skin ever. We also have some brilliant in-house intelligence on the subject of routines, naturally—we asked Chantecaille’s product development and training gurus to weigh in on why routines are so important.
How to Get Started
If you’re keen to develop a routine but not sure where to begin, Molly Dalton-Jones, Chantecaille’s Director of Training Development, recommends first being honest about what’s really possible for your day-to-day life. Keeping it simple is key to sticking with it, she says. “Select either a serum and moisturizer to amplify each other or an eye cream and moisturizer to start”, noting “the eye area is so delicate and shows the first signs of aging—it’s so important to keep it hydrated”.
Once you’ve lined up your skincare MVPs (our skincare quiz is an excellent way to do this!), it’s important to know the best order to apply them to maximize results. Marta Cammarano, our Vice President of Research and Product Development, explains that “applying products in order from lightest texture to most emollient ensures that your skin is going to absorb the maximum benefits from each product”, Cammarano explains.
“Once you’re comfortable with the routine you’ve created, consider adding in targeted treatments, like a mask with specific benefits.”
Order of application
1. Serum first, if you use more than one, apply the lightest texture first.
2. Moisturizer next—a face oil before cream if you use both.
3. SPF last, so you don’t interfere with the sun protection barrier.
Once you’re comfortable with the routine you’ve created, consider adding in targeted treatments, like a mask with specific benefits. “You can add in a mask that you sleep in overnight in place of your moisturizer. Leave it near your bedside and just press it into your skin. It’s the simplest, time-saving way to add another product to your routine”, says Dalton-Jones.
“While we do have ingredients that can fast-track some visible improvements, for real results you have to use a product regularly.”
Beauty Benefits: Fast Results & Long-Term Benefits
When asked about the importance of routine in regards to product efficacy, Cammarano explains that products, and the ingredients they contain, usually need at least a few weeks to show results. “While we do have ingredients that can fast-track some visible improvements, for real results you have to use a product regularly”, she says. We often craft formulas that offer both immediate and long-term benefits, like instant tensing blends of alga which immediately create a smooth, lifted look, for instant gratification as well as visible improvement down the line.
When starting a new skincare routine, Dalton-Jones points out that “customers will report that within the first few days they’ll notice how soft and comfortable their skin feels. After a month, they notice that their skin has a natural glow, fine lines are less obvious- there is an overall healthier look to their skin”. If that doesn’t convince you, we’re not sure what will!
Adjust Accordingly
Once you find your routine, stick with it! But don’t be afraid to make adjustments where they may be needed, especially as the seasons shift. “The change of seasons is a perfect time to switch up a few products and provide a boost to your skin”, Dalton-Jones says. “Change of climate affects the skin as does our own stress. Adding in masks to target specific concerns, or choosing a serum that has a specific function (lifting, brightening, boosting hydration) are an incredible way to address concerns within your existing routine”.
