The Deal With Our Seals

We’re always seeking to be more ethical and conservation-minded with our product creation. Here are three certifications we invest in–and what they mean.

PETA

What it means: PETA’s global Beauty Without Bunnies program indicates that a product is 100% cruelty free. Chantecaille does zero testing of raw ingredients or formulas on animals, and never has. We also refuse to sell our products in countries that require animal testing.

Applies to: All Chantecaille products

RMI

What it means: Mica is used as a sheen-booster in beauty products and is sometimes sourced using child labor. Chantecaille joined the Responsible Mica Initiative (RMI), a membership organization committed to responsible and sustainable sourcing practices and to eradicating child labor in India by 2030. RMI’s community empowerment programs have been launched in more than 80 villages across India’s mica region, where 5,800 households so far benefit from child labor-reducing initiatives, better schools and healthcare.

Applies to: Many of our shimmery products, including Lip Cristal, Luminescent Eye Shades, Eclat Doux and Eclat Brillant, Just Skin Tinted Moisturizer and Real Skin

FAIRWILD

FairWild supports a sustainable future for wild plants and the people who collect them. Because these plants typically come from biodiverse ecosystems and are collected by some of the poorest communities on earth, it’s important to prevent overharvesting and ensure fair wages and working conditions. We source our organic Baobab Oil from a fair-trade collective in Zimbabwe.

Applies to: Lip Veil and Le Matte Stylo
