Behind the Cause

Global consumption of wild animals poses a threat to certain species and to human health from zoonotic disease outbreaks. Some marine species are especially vulnerable. Whale sharks—the ocean’s gentle giants—are hunted for their meat and fins, while intelligent manta rays are overfished for their gill plates, used in health tonics.

For all of these reasons, we decided to partner with WildAid, an NGO that works with governments to build public support to end wildlife consumption, from sharks and rays to pangolin scales to rhino horn. And because it has never been clearer that protecting wildlife also means protecting ourselves.
